UGM featured in the Vancouver Sun
with 19 other notable BC charities!
Interesting notes related to the story:
*Included in the second half of the write-up on UGM is a note about our Housing Society and Foundation that is in error and may require a bit more explanation to avoid confusion:
Union Gospel Mission and the Housing Societies listed in the article are independent—UGM does not control them, as was indicated. UGM does not receive government funding to run its programs. The Housing Societies receive two small government grants for two housing projects (not three)—one is for $36,000 and the other is $12,000. While there are no fully-funded projects by the government, recently, BC Housing did partner with UGM for the construction of its 601 East Hastings facility, and the government fully funded the one-time construction of the housing portion of the building (not the programs). UGM is so thankful to all its donors, big and small, who allow us to feed hope and change the lives of the most vulnerable in our community.
