Serving here on the frontlines of the war that wages for people’s freedom from sin has been a dramatic and at times traumatic experience. I have heard so many stories of heartache and pain, suffering and loss. I have seen so much hopelessness and despair. I have witnessed the walking dead and prayed for miracles in the lifeless souls that enter our Drop In Centre. In response to my prayers muttered clumsily to the Lord, asking Him to restore the women and children that live in this community, requesting healing in broken bodies, and pleading with him for protection over the choices that some of my friends make, the only answer I have received is this. “All I require you to do is love. And whatever your do for each of these people you do them to glorify me.”
And so I have cast aside the superhero cape that I came traipsing in with, let down my guard to let people into my heart, and loved them with the love that Christ has given me. And I have never been more satisfied in Him than knowing that everything I do is all for Him. My challenge to each one who reads this, might you go a step out of their comfort zone to offer a piece of themselves and their heart to someone who needs it. Lift a brother up, offer a helping hand to a sister from the street, be a cold cup of water to the parched and thirsty, give a little bit of love to the loveless, and I guarantee that you will be satisfying the one who satisfies us all!
The king will answer them, "I can guarantee this truth: Whatever you did for one of my brothers or sisters, no matter how unimportant it seemed you did them for me."
Matthew 25:40
