The following note was sent in to UGM via our website, and the writer has kindly permitted us to republish it here for our readers:After thirty plus years on the West Coast, from Manitoba, I never imagined I would ever be sending a message of commendation to a conservative religious group. (This premise is based on the stance taken by the religious right towards an entire segment of humanity, of which I am a part, stemming from sexual orientation.) I live in a West End apartment, which faces the alley between Burnaby St. and Davie St. I quite seriously cannot tell you how shocked I was to see a van from your group, several nights ago, heading up the alley and asking homeless youth if they were OK, and enquiring as to whether they needed anything. I immediately said to myself, “Good for them,” and then realized who I was praising from the logo on the van. I will assume that you don’t limit your kindness on the basis of sexual orientation, and genuinely commend you for your acts of compassion.
Sincerely,
Hugh (Bart) Vincelette
