Frugal Orange Day Ideas: Ditch the Car

April 02, 2009

A slight problem with the interwebs kept us away from posting yesterday but we're back today with another Frugal Orange Day Idea. A great way to pinch some pennies is to leave your gas guzzler parked. Try commuting without your car for a week: you can pound the pavement, bust out your bike or hop on a bus.

All three
methods of transportation offer you a completely different experience of the city. Instead of being stuck in traffic, you can be enjoying fresh air or burning calories on your bike or leisurely reading your favorite magazine on one of Vancouver’s trolley buses. Who knows, after a week you might even enjoy it more than your regular commute!

On the weekends, you can also enjoy traveling around the city by boat. You don’t have to stress about finding parking downtown or on Granville Island if you set sail with the Aqua Bus. Maybe you don’t live in the city: think local for the weekends and enjoy your neighbourhood on foot. Walk to the grocery store and meet some of your neighbours along the way.

So leave your ride parked, save your gas money and try to squeeze something for Orange Day!

Ride the rails and save big for Orange Day.

Be frugal, be green & park your ride.
