Dining with Dignity: Homeless treated to a surprise, exquisite four-course meal

September 16, 2008

On Saturday, August 30, 2008, one hundred surprised and excited Union Gospel Mission guests were treated to a decadent meal, thanks to Sherry Geraghty of Dana Hospitality, who transformed the Union Gospel Mission cafeteria into a five-star dining destination.
Motivated to use her talents and resources to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate than her, Geraghty spent months planning this one evening. She arranged for food donations from Neptune Food Service, Boulangerie La Parisienne and eBay Café where she is the managing chef. She coordinated sixteen volunteers to help prepare and serve the three-course meal which consisted of salad, grilled maple balsamic pork loin, roasted potatoes, vegetables and apple pie and ice cream. The tables were decorated with fine linens, centerpieces, and baskets of flowers to match the exquisite meal -- all rented by Geraghty. Live music provided by Nicks' Dilemma was also part of the dining experience.
