Pancakes in Oppenheimer Park with UGM

June 18, 2009

On Saturday, May 30, TELUS team member volunteers partnered with Union Gospel Mission to serve 2,500 hot breakfasts to the Downtown Eastside community in Oppenheimer Park. The breakfast marked the park's last day before renovations began that will close it until the end of this year. The breakfast was a full hot meal - pancakes, eggs, sausage, muffins, and juice - with a little something extra for children. This event was part of the fourth annual TELUS Day of Service, a day for the TELUS team to came together as one and make a difference in the communities where they live and work.

These difficult economic times have resulted in great community needs and TELUS team members gave back with their hearts, minds and hands by focusing on helping those less fortunate, on youth initiatives and on the environment. More than 9,000 TELUS team members including employees, retirees, family and friends participated in hundreds of volunteer activities across the country.
