January 08, 2009
Christmas 2008 was a year to remember for Union Gospel Mission. In the midst of uncertain economic times, coupled with a growing demand for its services, UGM was able to provide for thousands of children, families and individuals in need this holiday season.Over 3,000 meals were served during the annual Christmas dinner festivities, 1,400 stockings were filled with toys, school supplies and treats for Vancouver's lowest-income children, and over 300 hearty Christmas hampers were distributed to families most in need of a miracle. Generous Vancouverites stepped up and gave gifts of hope in honour of loved ones through the UGM Christmas Catalogue. Cozy packs, meals, recovery support, education opportunities and much more continue to be supplied in 2009 to Vancouver's most needy, thanks to these special gifts.
