UGM’s Summer BBQ to serve up to 4000 Amidst Soaring Cost of Living
24th Annual DTES BBQ Give Low-Income Families Opportunity for Summer Fun

(Vancouver, B.C.) – In the face of inflation and sky-high cost of living, Union Gospel Mission’s (UGM) Summer BBQ event is back Saturday, July 15th at Oppenheimer Park. Downtown Eastside (DTES) families will gather for fun, friends and good food - creating happy memories and stepping away from the ongoing obstacles surrounding homelessness, poverty and addiction.

“We know this isn’t a magic solution to everything but we hope this event can uplift the community through the summer joys offered like face painting, bouncy castles, and a mini-carnival of games.” says Nicole Mucci, UGM’s Media & Communications Manager.” 

Up to 4000 meals will be served. Summer BBQ is UGM’s biggest event of the year for the Downtown Eastside community, including those who may be experiencing or are at risk of homelessness or low-income.

“We are pleased to support UGM’s Annual Summer BBQ as lead sponsor again this year,” says Concert Properties Chair, President & CEO David Podmore, OBC. “Giving back to the communities where we work is one of our founding principles and over the years it has become even more important as the need increases.
