I received a phone call from a woman today who told me that her son had just become a single father of a beautiful little girl and has been struggling to provide her with even the basics.

It turns out that in the days just before her call, we had received just enough food to put together a food hamper—I love how God always provides! So I told the woman to send her son over.

He wasn’t what you might picture when you think of someone who isn’t able to feed his child

He wasn’t what you might picture when you think of someone who isn’t able to feed his child, but I could tell by his posture and the look on his face that this was a very hard time for him—it was a difficult thing for him to admit he needed help. He was having a hard time looking me in the eye, so I simply assured him he could call anytime he needed help – even if it's just to talk to someone.

Finally he made eye contact. He said he felt such relief knowing his child would be alright for the next couple of weeks. "Thank you," he said tearfully.

On that day I saw God in the face of that man, and I was reminded of Matthew 25:40 – “I tell you the truth, when you did it for one of the least of these brothers and sisters, you were doing it for me."
