Hearts for the City

Transforming communities, one month at a time

Helping people re-build and get back on their feet is important to me.

That’s one of the reasons Brent is a Hearts for the City donor—he’s passionate about providing life-changing support to people in need on a monthly basis.

Union Gospel Mission has been a part of Dan’s life for as long as he can remember.

“I remember as a kid, heading down with my dad for the services at night. I remember feeling like we were way across the tracks.” Today, Dan is one of our most loyal Hearts for the City donors.

Gina’s daughters mean the world to her. “I wanted to be the mom I never had for them,” she explains. “But I couldn’t attain that.”

“I was an addict from an early age. Ever since my own mom left, I felt there was something wrong with me. But I liked how I felt when I drank and drugged.”

“I’m from a large family. We didn’t have a lot of money growing up. When I was in my late twenties and on my own, I had to use food banks, and ended up on social assistance a few times. I guess I just want to give back and support people who don’t have a lot of resources, because I’ve been there.”
